Midsouth Waterfowl is a plain-English guide to public waterfowl hunting in Mississippi, Arkansas, Tennessee and Louisiana.

State and federal hunting rules are spread across four agency websites and dozens of PDFs. We bring the parts duck hunters need into one place: where the public land is, which draws to apply for and when, and what the rules are on each area.

  • Tips from the waterHow each place hunts, in our own words, from time on the water and published hunting guidance.
  • Rules from the agenciesEvery rule, date and fee links to the official page and shows the day we checked it.
  • Unknown means unknownIf an agency hasn’t published something, we say so instead of guessing.

Where our information comes from

Every rule, date and fee on this site is researched from official public sources, which are linked where it appears, and rechecked against them over time.

  • Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency, Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks, and Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries
  • U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service refuge pages and hunt brochures
  • NOAA / National Weather Service and U.S. Geological Survey weather and water data
  • Map tiles and base data © OpenStreetMap contributors

Hunting tips are written in our own words. Rules, dates and fees always link to the official source. Articles cite every fact inline, and anything we couldn’t confirm is marked Not confirmed.
